Entry No.04 Paulo Sergio
1999 WCSB / DUCATI 996 / CARL FOGARTY
What I had purposed to do was King Carl's Ducati machine of his last conquered title.
This's something that we don't see very much, always we do machine from the MotoGP and even Tamiya doesn't bet in the Superbike Championship bikes kits.
Fortunately there are littles companies like Museum Collection that made something about it.
But the transkit and decals to make this bike came from England from a company called MRM International, though I'll use only the decals.

The ram air ducts were filled with epoxy putty to make a more real shape ones.

My model activity had stopped due to changing home, but now I'm trying to finish in time the model. I don't know if I will but I'll try.

Until now I finish the ram-air ducts, painted like carbon.

The body was painted in italian red, placed the decals into it, but that went so well. The decals were to thin and they brake easily, especially the big white parts. I have to make something to fix it.

Then I had to made a swingarm and chain protection, a exhaust cover both made with poliester putty, all because the civil bike had nothing of that and only exist in the racing machine. Both not yet finished.

Also different from civil bike is the brake discs. I used ones taked from Yamaha YZR 500 84, I drilled some holes and covered others in order to made like the real ones.

Now I'm starting to make the front forks, I'll use the forks from the Yamaha YZR 500 '99, so it just it for now. See ya all.

I had painted the front forks, silver overcoated with orange clear in the fork tube and gold overcoated with orange clear in the fork sliders, making almost close colors of the real bike. Next, i painted the wheels with metalic grey with a overcoat of smoke. The front wheel came from a YZR 500 and the rear from Museum Collection.

Next i painted the heat exhaust and swingarm protection, with the technique described in the Tamiya site, making a more realistic than the decals ( i think, my opinion ). Then i went for the exhaust pipes giving a silver coat first, then painting them to give them the look of heat use.
Then i start to assembled the entire bike, engine and swingarm to the frame, then the wheels and front fork, to finally see the bike almost done, only missing to finish to paint the inside of the body work.
